Hello everyone, this post is going to shed some light on what your donation, sponsor, partner, as well as the one ad we have on the site does for RMMV. I'm probably one of the very few 1% that do not host websites for money, but for a service. I own GameHandout which I giveaway real, 100% legal, purchased games to people. Such as Black Ops 3 without any form of payment, etc. I made this site for one reason, and that reason was to provide the best resources, friendliest, most helpful, etc. community out of any RM site out there.

Back on topic of the money I make from the site. I've spent every penny back on this site that I received from donations thus far. If you do not know, this site is using XenForo, and all the amazing features we have on here is from the XenForo resources that their members have created. Now, most of the features we use are huge, and took a lot of time to make, so... they charge a lot. Off the bat. XenForo is a $140 system, the resource we have is an extra $60. I'm also thinking about getting a media addon to allow members a whole section (Kind of like imagr) to post their own photos of either resources, or their games they're making. Which is another $60. Wiki = $10 Badges = $35, and more.

I'm also trying to get a blog system added, as well as a homepage, and customizable profile pages. The Blog costs $50, the homepage costs $40, and the customizable profiles cost $10.

I also put money back in, to help out our SEO (Search Engine Optimization) A.K.A. when members search RPG Maker MV, RMMV, RPG Maker MV Resources, etc. our website shows up on the first page. This way we will have more, and more members, and can be the amazing community you all deserve! This isn't cheap, and one service to add some backlinks, .GOV .EDU backlinks, profile posts, PR7-9 links, etc. Costs a lot of money, and I've already dropped well over $100 on this.

As well as the cost for Hosting, and keeping our domain, and you cannot forget upgrading the hosting once we get way bigger. This will start costing a lot of money.

With all this stuff I'm adding, changing, managing, and upgrading it costs a lot of money. So everything you all end up donating goes directly into the forum. Not in my pocket, but to help make this place a better experience for you all. This is my hobby, I don't make websites for a profit, or a living. I have a job/career, I don't need another one. Being a webmaster is my hobby and something I do for the community, to provide a selfless service to the community.

This post isn't to convince you all to donate, or to ask/beg for donations, but to simply answer questions a few of y'all have, or had. To ensure you that anything you do to help out the community goes into the community. I wanted to shed some light to you all, as I feel it's important to know what your money is truly going towards when you do spend it, no matter what it is. I know this site is new, and some of y'all are still getting to know me, but any update, plan, etc. I have, I try to tell you exactly what it is for, and why I'm doing it. I'm an honest man, and I feel that hiding stuff will only make it worse in the long run, and I live by my word. I might be slow to getting around to it from time to time XD But I will always keep my word.

*Slightly off topic* My mom bought a book for me before 6th grade to read in school as we were required to buy a book. I picked out this hardback book called Eragon, which was like $40. That's really expensive for a book, and for us at the time. She told me if she bought it, I HAD to read it, and I made that promise. We'll... Like 2 years ago I found it (a year and a half after I graduated high school) I found it, and read it because I promised her I would. (I did get addicted, and bought every book in the series though XD)

Nice stuff, very expensive plugins though - what language(s) are they written in?

BTW, something that would be cool is having like, a progress bar of some sort somewhere not on the main forum page (like the homepage or something)

I have done a small donation previously just because at the time I could not get the partnership but I do plan on grabbing a partnership, maybe I'll start off with a sponsor then move up to a partnership, either way I'm here for the long haul :D

A progress bar to show what? Stuff you should do, like youtube now has? Where it'd be Join the forum (Check), Make and introduction post (Check), Read the rules (Check), Become a VIP (Uncheck), Make 1,000 posts (Uncheck), Get 100 likes (Check), 75% complete. Or what exactly are you referring too when you say a progress bar?

Sounds good to me :D I know the struggle of not having a car. My car (2012 Dodge Charger, She's my baby) Is in Virginia right now, and I'm all the way in Kuwait :(

Every little bit helps :D Your Moderator will still triumph your Sponsor or Partner FYI. But you will still get a VIP Badge :3 (I'm thinking about making a Sponsor, and Partner Badge separately from VIP. But I don't know yet.)

Yes every little bit does help I know this to be true :D I'm aware the Moderator/Staff badge will be the dominant one but don't matter to me I'd rather support the community than worry about a little badge. I have ideas for the Sponsor and Partner purchases but those can wait until the community is a bit more active :D

I meant a progress toward a goal eg $40 toward homepage.
I can probably change the goal here: http://www.rpgmakermv.co/donate/ to whatever I'm working on adding next. I beleive it updates monthly, so I'd either need to look into finding away to add that, or simply bump up the percentage every time we meet a goal.

Pff, I sponsor ever RPG Maker community I join.; you know how lost I'd be without the communities of old? It's like giving back to future communities, for the...something something of Christmas. Or Hanukkah. Or raisins.

Mind you, rpgmakervxace.net asked for a one-time donation that I never had to worry about again...and this is a subscription... *sagely pretends to stroke imaginary beard* I'm keeping my eye on you, Xyphien...

I love to donate when I feel to donate too. I'm not found of subscriptions. especially when you're not even sure your income is quite stable enough ^^"

The subscription is for Sponsor ($5 a month) and Partner ($15 a year). For subscriptionless donations you click the donate page. The only thing about that is you don't get a sponsor or Partner display when donating to the donate page. But, your name is displayed when you donate to that, and not via sponsor / partner. So there's pro's and con's to both.

Damn, my head hurts. D=

There's a sponsorship and donation spot, both? Does the money go to the same thing (i.e. paying back the features already purchase and/or to purchase new ones, like blogerinos?), or is it going to two separate causes? I've got money to donate right now, but I'm bamboozled on how it all works out. Keeping a website like this (especially one this fast growing) is costly, I know.

Rofl, I consider both a form of donations, so everything mentioned in this post is covered by all three, Sponsors, Partners, and Donators. So, no matter what it is, it goes to the causes listed in this post. Upgrades, addons, and SEO/Promotion.

Edit: I have a huge feeling that with the release of MV tomorrow, we will start growing 6x faster than what we are now. I'm bracing myself for the headache XD

I know, even though I will be here, through my mobile phone, I wont be able to dedicate all my time too it because go figure, I have to help a friend move into his new place. I am embracing myself though and ready for a ride on the waves of new members lol :D

Someone's gotta man the MV Help section....man. Do you realize how many 'How do I turn off an event?' posts there are gonna be!? Do you understand the scope of the situation? How could you be so selfish as to help a friend in need when there will be literally hundreds (HUNDREDS, Coral!) of strangers begging the answers to the same questions for 72 hours straight? I thought you had more skin than that.

The audacity of some so-called 'people'. For shame.

I'm not sure if it's mandated, but you can do a monthly sub on RMN too, I give em five dollars a week, just like here.

Those are the only forums I donate to.
